Robert Magee was born in Liverpool, England, in 1924. He was educated in the Liverpool Institute and The Liverpool School of Art. Later he became involved in soccer and became a member of 2 teams in the Sunday morning “Pub” League. In 1957 Bob brought his family to Canada settling in Hamilton where he played for Brantford Ex-Imperials in the Southern Ontario Soccer League.
In 1976, Bob started the East Hamilton Soccer Club along with Bill Johnston and Bill Bradley before becoming President of the Hamilton and District Soccer Association from 1983-1985. Soon after he became Secretary of Hamilton Sparta Soccer Club from 1985-2009.
Over the years Bob became the founding member of the Ontario Soccer League. Bob also served on the Board of the Hamilton and District Old Timers Soccer League. Bob was the district representative for the OSA, manager/coordinator of the Canusa Games from 1984-1989, member of the Hamilton Sports Council in 1994 and was awarded the meritorious service award from the OSA.
Bob Passed away in 2011 but his commitment to soccer in Hamilton will always be remembered as he devoted over 40 years of his life to this passion.
