Dundas United Men’s 1980-2000CLUB OF DISTINCTION

The Dundas United Soccer Club was formed in 1967. The founding members were Bill Leckie, Phil Plain, Jim Knott, Billy Moore, Jim Tipper and Ed Northey.

The Dundas Men’s teams have played in the Southern Ontario Soccer League, Ontario Inter City Soccer League, the Toronto and District Soccer League and the Ontario Soccer League over the years. Starting in the early 1980’s Dundas had both a first and second team playing in the Southern Ontario Soccer League as well as a first team playing in the Ontario Soccer League. Over this span Dundas has fielded teams in the U13, U15, U17 boys and U21, over 30, over 35, and over 40 men’s division. At each level Dundas has won the league one to several times, including several league cup championships and play-off championships.

The Dundas Men’s team appeared in the Ontario Cup Championship game in each of the following years, 1980, 1982, 1984, 1986, 1987 and 1997.   In both 1984 and 1997 the team went on to win the prestigious Ontario Cup Championship.

The club developed many players over the years as several players have gone on to represent Canada at the Youth and Senior levels. The development continues today as the club is still participating in the Premier Soccer League and Burlington Soccer League.

The long standing success of the Dundas United Men’s soccer club has established them as this year’s club of distinction.
