Dr. Nick Bontis (www.NickBontis.com) has played soccer competitively for many years for such noteworthy clubs as Scarborough Maple Leaf, Scarborough Azzurri, London Portuguese, Dundas United and Hamilton Greek Olympic. Throughout his career he amassed five Ontario Cups, one Canadian Championship, and has won the leading goal scoring title in every league he has played. He also played semi-professionally for London City of the old Canadian Soccer League (CSL).
Nick was the leading goal scorer, and MVP as well as a provincial and national all-star while playing for the University of Western Ontario Mustangs for five years. He currently plays for Schalke FC in the Ontario Soccer League (South Region) and for Proto in the First Division of the Hamilton & District 035 Soccer League. He has his National B level coaching license from the USSF and coached youth soccer at Hamilton Sparta for many years. In 2010, Nick was acknowledged as a Vancouver Olympics torch bearer for his commitment to volunteerism in sport.
He was co-chair for the organizing committee in 2015 when Hamilton hosted the Pan Am games for men’s and women’s soccer. Nick was elected to the Board of Directors for the Canadian Soccer Association in 2012 and in 2017 was appointed Vice President, Canada Soccer.
