Al Carrafiello was born and educated in Italy, then emigrated to Canada in 1950 at the age of 18. Al’s dedication to the game of soccer has spanned many decades and continues today.

    In 1978 Al began as an assistant coach in the Flamborough Soccer Club and the following year as equipment manager. Then from 1982-1987 he was the president of the Flamborough Soccer Club. From there he went on to the Hamilton District Soccer Association as Director from 1987-1989, Vice-President from 1989-1996 and President from 1996-2013. Currently he is the Discipline Chairman for the Hamilton District Soccer Association.

    Additional soccer duties for the Ontario Soccer Association included registered game official 1982-present, District Ontario Cup Coordinator 1987-1996, Ontario Cup Semi-finals Discipline Chair, member and chair of the OSA Discipline and Appeals Committee, certified Discipline Chair Instructor and District Representative at the OSA Board of Directors 1996-2013.  From 2000-2012 Al has been an Ontario Head of Delegation for a number of National Club Championships including the Jubilee Trophy, Challenge Cup in 2010.

    In 1999, he retired from the Hamilton Street Railway Co. but not the game of soccer. Al’s dedication to the building of soccer in our community is truly outstanding.
